I personally think that living in a single-parent family somehow is better than living in a normal family. I agree with the points says those who live with single-parent are more likely to be independent than those who are not. I agree since i have a friend who lives with single-parent. He is so independent, reliable, and knows to take care of himself. Well some people might say that living with single-parent would arise problems in life particularly in social life. I disagree with that since a person's social life actually depends on what that person likes to have in his or hers. I mean, a person who is living with non-single-parent could have a bad social life if that is his or her choice. Another point that makes me feel living in a single-parent family is good is that it creates a more strength relationship between a father and his kids or between a mother and her kids. I am saying this since single-parents would be most likely spending times with their kids since they do not have to think about their spouses. This would lead to the kids to feel happy and love their single-parent.
There may be a lot of advantages to live in a single parent home. One of the advantages, which I strongly agree with, is the independent spirit of the child under single parent. However, There is too much risk to raise a child under single parent. Even though, you have been a perfect single parent, it doesn’t mean that you can play an opposite role, which is either father or mother. To help the growth of your child, there are parts that only father or mother can involve in. There are a lot of cases, which demonstrates that single parent is capable of raising there children just as good as parents do. On the other hand, we probably hear more bad news about children raised in a single parent home. This just doesn’t depend on the ability of the single parent. The child also needs to be very understanding, so that he or she is able to accept their circumstances. Just like the embryo is formed by a sperm and an ovum, your child need both father and mother.
It is kind of ambiguous to say whether living in a single parent family is better or not. In my country, a child who is raised by a single parent is very rare, so I have not much knowledge about it, but after I read this article I found that living with a single parent is not recommendable.
While I am reading this article, I had a little research regarding to this topic. “According to a Swedish study, those living with a sole parent were about three times more likely to either kill themselves or end up in the hospital after an attempted suicide by the age of 26 than children living with two parents” , but on the other hand children who living in a single parent showed better performance(?) on their level of maturity. In point of view, children should be raised in a stable family condition.
I mean children should live with their biological father and mother. There is a limit for living with a single parent. If one live with a sole family, he/she could not get the advantages that the two parent family’s kids get. For example, they do not have to worry about finding their biological father or mother, which means they can be raised in a stable family condition, and eventually children acknowledge by themselves that they are having a stable childhood. If children spend confusing childhood, the consequences would not be desirable. There are certain roles that either only mother or father can perform. In a general view, father makes money, and arrange family plans for the weekend etc and mother does housekeeping, educate their children etc. In conclusion I disagree with living with a single parent, but the most important fact is child’s point of view of whether he/she is acceptable to the circumstances or not.
There are both benefits living with single-parent or normal family. However, it depends on what kinds of parent the child lives with. For example, if the child lives with parents that are in a bad relationship and often have fights, then it will really have a negative influence on the child. Because what the child get from his parents are bad emotion instead of love. Moreover, parents in this kind of family will pay less attention on their child because they feel annoy to their home. In this case, I personally suggest that child lives with single-parent. Because not only the child will be more independent but he can live in an environment that is good for his growth. He doesn't have to involved in the parents war. Actually, what I said all depends on parents. If there is love in their family, that is , parent(s) give love to their child , then no matter how many parents that child lives with, he must feel happy in his family.
In my opinion, single-parent family is something we should avoid. There are reasons why God creates Adam and Eve. It is not just because of human natural desire to have spouse in life, but also because of mother and father will have different role in parenting. The good family needs a combination of love and strictness. These two elements will not come together in a single person. Kind and lovely man or woman usually is not a strict person. Therefore, to have a ideal family, we need parents, not a single-parent. Children need love from their parents but at the same time parents must make their children know the limit. In order to do that, they must show rational strictness. That’s why family with strict father has very kind and lovely mother and vice versa. One advantage from single-parent family that emphasized a lot is kids from single-parent family tend to mature faster than other kids. I agree with this based on my experience having a friend from single-parent. He is very independent and good decision-maker. Additionally, he always helped others solving their problem. However, I also have some other friends from single-parent family who are troublesome. They are not just having problem with themselves, but also cause problems to others. All in all, we can not say whether single-parent or normal family because it depends on the parents and also the children.
There may be some disadvantages to single parents, such as making money to raise a child. However, there are also some advantages, and I prefer living in a single parent family. Children in single parent family get mature earlier. They know how hard to make money for living, and how to handle the hardship. Single parents have two kinds of treatments to their children. Some of them may take time to earn money and pay little attention to their children. I really dislike this kind of parent. I think taking care of child is a basic duty for parents. Even though they work hard and feel tired after work, they should communicate with their kids, especially in a single parent family. I believe there are not so many single parents. Some other single parents pay more attention to their kids. They pay much time to communicate with their child and know what they think, what they love, and what they need. Communicating is really necessary and important. In summary, both single parents and their kids can live in a happy life.
It is difficult to say whether single parent is better for kids or not. However, it is true that there are many benefits for kids in single parent home as well. I agree with kids in single parent home learn to be independent much faster than kids who grow up with both parents. Also kids with single parent learn to do daily household task and learn relationship better. I’ve seen some friends who were in single parent home, they had strong bond with their parents. Since the kid is the only family for the single parent and the single parent is the only family for the kid, they love each other a lot and spend so much time together. I think the relationship was very beautiful.
I’ve grown up with both parents. Since my parents have great relationship for a really long time, I feel happy to live in both parents home. I wish to have the same relationship with my future husband as my parents have. Having a great partner in one’s life is important factor to live happily, which I learned from my parents. So, in the view of leaning love and good relationship with a partner, I believe that it’s better to live with both parents for kids.
In my cultural view point, single parent and divorcing tend to be immoral to both parents and children. Nowadays, the statistic rate of divorcing got up high but still people point out the bad effects on single parenting and point a finger of scorn at divorced parents and children. To me, I didn’t know there are actual advantages on single parenting until I read these articles because people always emphasize on the disadvantages of single-parent family. Although, I got the idea of advantages on single-parenting, I still think single-parent affects somewhat bad ways to the children. On the article, it says the children don’t have to see the conflicts in the family after the parents get divorced. But I saw a lot of my friends whose parents got divorced struggling in the divorcing process and after they face into stepparents. Clearly saying, I personally don’t like the idea of single parenting; parents disturb the happiness of children being in normal family and children losing one of their biggest advocates. Even the joint custodies make children more confusing on their identity of being which one’s children. In the conclusion I think parents have to see their children’s happiness before their temporary emotions on once beloved before they fight on each other.
Actually, I was shocked at the first time when I saw the first article because I never thought of the advantages of a single-parent child. After reading the three articles and thinking of my single-family friends, I really felt that they were more independent and mature. I was born in a normal family, so I couldn’t feel what my single-family friends feel. However, through my observation, I found that they were more sensitive than the peers. For instance, when my friends and I were eating around a table, the first one who always found I was in bad mood was my single-parent friend. Also, my single-parent friend was the last one to tell me about what he thought. In other word, those people who were born in single parent family always tried to solve problems by themselves no matter technical or emotional. Even though they were independent, they were the most loneness people in the world. One of my single-family friends never wanted to talk about her family because her father hurt her so much and she would get angry if she thought a lot past events about her father. In conclusion, the single-family people are the most sensitive and complex people I‘ve never seen.
Even though I believe both single families and normal families have their own advantages, I would still prefer having two parents in the family. It is really difficult to judge whether which one is better. People say that single parent families are bad is because they are the minorities, thus many people think kids having only one parent in the family is in a dire situation. In these two different kinds of families, children will experience life differently. In single parent families, kids are usually more independent due to the fact that they also have to support the family, and the kids in two parents families are usually not.
I strongly believe that a single parent family is not the ideal way to live life. Although I agree with the fact that children from single parent families are more independent, this is not always the case, since there are also children who suffers from living with one parent and also from their parents getting divorced. People who are in favor of single parent families must take into consideration that even though there are many children who live well with one parent, there are others who simply cannot accept the fact that when they are at home, they are only with one parent instead of two. I personally have some friends whose parents had divorced in the past and many of them had a hard time adjusting to their new lives. Even the ones who did manage to get along well with their new lives still have a bad memory about the past which will never be forgotten. It is especially hard for children to understand parents getting divorced and living with one parent only when they are adolescents and it’s also proven to be a negative factor for children mentally not grown up. Getting divorced always remains as a negative factor for children, whether or not they benefited from it.
A single parent is a parent with one or more children, who is not living with the child's other family members. The definition of single parenthood may vary according to local laws of nation or provinces.
Single parenthood may occur as a result of loss for example, death of spouse, separation, divorce, abandonment by one parent etc. Or by choice, such as single parent adoption, donor insemination, egg donor/surrogate motherhood, choosing to carry to term an unexpected pregnancy and raise the child on one's own.
More than 25% of children in the U.S. live with only one parent (U.S. Bureau of Census, 1997). Research about the welfare of children in single-parent families varies. Many factors influence the result of how children is going to live his/her life: parent's age, education level, and occupation, family income, family's support network from friends and extended family members, including the absent parent if available. Further, outcomes in families where single-parenthood is chosen is higher, as the single parent is typically older, have established employment and social supports, and has considered the upside and downside of raising a child alone.
Personally I think single parenthood would be disadvantages to the child, for a number of reasons. For example, single parent families usually deal with the issue of a lower income, which dictates how the child is going to be raised. The child as a consequence would not be able to achieve a higher living standard and/or academic success such as graduating from a college or university, which usually requires a relatively large amount of expense. Children in single parent families are affected psychologically as well, as a personal experience; I had a classmate who lived in a single parent family because the father died when the child was still young. The lack of love from the father made him shy away from other kids because of the preconception that he doesn’t have something that everyone else has; people started giving him unpleasant nicknames and bullying him around because kids at the age are not mature enough to feel and understand his pain. I don’t remember much of his face, because his never looks up when he walks, which clearly shows he lack of confidence around people, and he rarely talks even in class where participation was appreciated. Children live in a single parent family are affected negatively both physically and psychologically, therefore it is not something one should promote.
This is such a HOT topic nowadays! I know a couple of friends living in a single-parent family, and they appear pretty normal actually. However, sometimes you still can feel their loneness deep inside their heart. Statically, we can easily find a trend— it is the ‘MONEY’ matters, not the ‘SINGLE’! The articles provided tells us that, kids in those low-income single-parent family will lead a less happy life than those who live in a relatively higher-income single-parent family. By ‘a happy life’ we mean a better academic results or greater performance on social activities. I would say I totally agree with this point. However missing either member of the family will un-doubtfully destroy the basic balance of one family. For an example, a boy will mostly need a father’s love and guide in his childhood to set up a ‘men-characteristic’. What about a mother? A mother will give him a heart of caring and she will also play a vital role help shape him a kind and responsible heart! This is a very important personality-building stage. Missing any of the family members can be dangerous for the kids in the future. Of course this is only affecting those kids are still small. But since the statistics also tells us that most divorcing happens at the early age of the marriage, this problem is crucial! Thus I think income is indeed very important to determine if a child in a single-parent family happy or not, however single-parents will hardly be able to help their kids to form a relatively normal heart. And this will not make any benefit for the kids, not for now, not for the future!
